Eight Week Metalsmithing Intro Workshop

Join me for an eight week beginner-friendly introductory metalsmithing workshop at our beautiful studio in downtown Bingen! This hands-on workshop is perfect for anyone 18+ who is curious about the world of metalsmithing—no experience necessary.
Throughout the week we’ll cover:
- Sourcing materials
- Workshop safety & tool talk
- Setting up a home studio
- Finding creative inspiration
- Core metalsmithing techniques: soldering, sawing, forming, bezel setting, and finishing work
What to Expect
Each student will have their own dedicated workspace, fully equipped with the tools needed for each project. Every day begins with a demonstration, followed by studio time to explore, practice, and create. This workshop will focus on metalsmithing fundamentals and each days project will be simple to ensure students are able to practice the basics. You can expect to finish three to six pieces of jewelry depending on your own personal progress throughout the class.
What’s Included
- Sterling silver, brass, and copper. Silver prices can fluctuate greatly, each student will receive roughly $150 worth of sterling silver (which will be based on current markets at the time of the class) and each daily project will be based around the amount of metal students have to work with. Should students wish to use additional silver it will be available for purchase at daily Rio Grande pricing.
- Access to a wide selection of stones from my inventory, including turquoise, jasper, and more
- All tools needed for workshop use
- 20 hours of instruction
Lunch + Amenities
We’ll take a one-hour lunch break each day. Lunch is not provided, but students are welcome to bring their own. Our studio has a fridge, microwave, glassware, and utensils for your convenience. Bingen also offers several nearby dining options, all within walking distance or a short drive.
